Kenya’s Opondo Kaluma Causes Jitters In The US After Degrading Kamala Harris’ Campaign
Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament George Peter Kaluma has received criticism from American and international media outlets for posting inaccurate information about American Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party campaign.
The MP recently revealed that he traveled to the United States to campaign for Republican Presidential Candidate and former President Donald Trump, primarily due to his conservative views.
To that end, the MP has been active on social media, posting about the US presidential election, where he has aggressively campaigned for Trump.
However, in one of the posts, the MP shared false information by posting a photo of Ireland’s Mayor of Cork, Dan Boyle, standing alongside nudists at a recent cycling event.

“The reason I have left USA Democrats is to support Republicans. Democrats have lost it!” read the tweet posted on September 11, accompanied by an image of naked cyclists covered in paint.
In his caption, Kaluma cited this as one of the primary reasons he left Kenya to campaign for Trump and why he strongly supports the Republicans.
On August 27, Cork City Center hosted the Irish leg of the World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR).
Naturally, the post drew the attention of several media outlets in the United States and Ireland.
Both journalists objected to the MP’s use of inaccurate information to discredit Kamala Harris’ campaign.
Cork’s 96FM reported that it was very disheartening that such a leader could be at the forefront of spreading misinformation.

According to the radio journalists, the saddest part was that only two people in the comments noticed that the image used was incorrect, indicating that more people are falling victim to misinformation on social media.
“The danger in this is that I read the comments and only two people said that the photo was wrong and was from Cork. Pure falsehood is heightening on social media,” the journalists said.
The ODM MP who has traveled to the United States to campaign for Trump has called Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris a fake, as he publicly declares his support for Trump.
Coincidentally, last year, the Member of Parliament launched a campaign to crack down on Kenya’s LGBTQ community.
Kaluma’s proposed bill included life sentences for those involved in same-gender activity.
