2 Killed, 11 Injured In A Road Crash Along The Nairobi-Mombasa Highway

A motorcyclist and his pillion passenger died on arrival at the hospital after being involved in an accident with a passenger van on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway near Transami.

The accident occurred at approximately 9.45 a.m. on Friday, leaving 11 passengers in a Toyota Hiace van with multiple injuries.

“It happened that the driver of Toyota Hiace was driving from Nairobi heading towards Mombasa general direction and on reaching on the location of the accident, had a head-on collision with the motorcycle which was being ridden against the free flow of traffic,” a police report said.

“The rider and his pillion passenger aged 32 years were pronounced dead on arrival at Coast General Hospital,” the report added.

“Scene visited, documented and both motor vehicle and motorcycle towed to Changamwe police station awaiting inspection.”

According to the police report, the injured victims were treated at Coast General Hospital and Port Reitz Sub-County Hospital.

The victims suffered a variety of injuries, including fractures to their heads, shoulders, limbs, and hands.

The injured are aged 20 to 38 years old.
