‘Ford-Kenya Is A Rock Party’ – Wetang’ula Party Dismisses UDA Merger Reports
The Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD) Kenya Party issued a statement on Wednesday refuting claims that it was planning to dissolve, insisting that there were no immediate plans to do so.
While making the announcement, the party’s Secretary General, John Chikati, dismissed the allegations as unfounded rumors.
This is despite the fact that the ruling Kenya Kwanza Coalition continues to urge its affiliate parties to merge their operations and form a single, powerful political entity.
The party, which has had a significant presence in most presidential regimes, laughed off the folding-up rumors.
Party officials stated that plans are well underway to strengthen the organization and grow its support base ahead of the 2027 elections.
“There was a rumour of folding parties. First of all, nobody came to us to ask to fold our party. FORD-Kenya cannot fold,” Chikati stated while speaking to journalists.

“Even if they would have asked us, FORD Kenya cannot fold,” he added
He also mentioned that the party has strong leadership at the top, which will ensure its continued existence in the future.
The Secretary General noted that FORD-Kenya will continue to exist. “Some of the emerging parties shall leave FORD Kenya on the scene.”
Ford Kenya boasts the second-oldest party in Kenya, following the Kenya African National Union (KANU), which ruled for more than four decades after Kenya gained independence.
According to Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, who also serves as FORD Kenya’s Deputy Party Leader, the party was founded on strong ideals and differs from other parties, which are simply election vehicles.
“There are parties that are formed for the purposes of elections and immediately after the elections, they exit the scene. Ford Kenya is not one of them. FORD-Kenya is a rock party that has been there and is going to be there.”
The Secretary-General added that the political organization is willing to collaborate with like-minded parties to achieve long-term goals.
Bungoma Senator David Wakoli emphasized that the party will continue to strengthen itself through strong governance and grassroots groundwork.
“As FORD-Kenya party we will support the Kenya Kwanza administration led by Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula,” Senator Wakoli stated.
“Right from the grassroots all of us will support the government to make sure the country progresses forward.”
