On Friday morning, two people were killed in an accident involving a lorry ferrying logs of wood in the Dundori area of Nyandarua County.

According to witnesses, the lorry lost control and veered off the road, striking pedestrians.

Several people were injured during the mid-morning incident, despite the fact that locals rushed to rescue those trapped under the wreckage.

Kenyans.co.ke obtained footage of locals surrounding the lorry as responders moved in to assist injured people.

Similarly, the white lorry was captured after overturning by the roadside, with its windscreen completely shattered, indicating the severity of the accident.

Police officers arrived shortly after and cordoned off the scene.

Meanwhile, the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, and the deceased’s bodies were transported to the mortuary.

The Dundori incident occurred just a day after one person died in an accident involving a truck and a trailer on the Garissa-Thika highway.

According to the police report, the accident occurred when a truck collided with a stationary trailer at the Kanyonyo Shopping Centre, which is located between the Machakos and Kitui borders.

The latest accidents add to the country’s grim road carnage statistics, which continue to be reported on a regular basis.

In its latest report, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) reported that 3,369 people died in road accidents between January 2024 and August 2024.

The NTSA stated that there were 1,281 pedestrians, 825 motorcyclists, 654 passengers, and 281 drivers.
