Ichung’wah Claps Back At DP Gachagua’s WhatsApp Group Claims

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah lashed out at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Saturday after he expressed contentious views about President William Ruto’s government.

Speaking in Chepsaita, Uasin Gishu County, where he was attending a sports event, Ichung’wah accused the Deputy President of engaging in tribal politics, which he claimed had the potential to divide Kenyans.

Ichungwah, who encouraged Kenyans to participate in the next Chepsaita marathon, also chastised Gachagua for complaining over his removal from the State House WhatsApp group.

In a cryptic note sent to the Deputy President, the Kikuyu Member of Parliament denied Gachagua’s charges.

He advised him to join alternative WhatsApp groups, such as the Chepsaita WhatsApp group, which he said was available to all members.

“I am urging all those lamenting that they have been removed from WhatsApp groups, let them join us in the Chepsaita WhatsApp group,” Ichung’wah commented.

“Let them join us so that we can stop tribal and divisive politics. This race does not have tribe, age, and even the colour of the skin,” he added.

According to Ichung’wah, the broad-based government’s WhatsApp group was open to everybody, and no one would be barred from joining regardless of their standing.

Ichung’wah’s comments come barely a day after DP Gachagua’s allies chastised Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah for repeatedly disrespecting the deputy president in public.

Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, speaking to Wakulima traders in Nairobi, chastised President Ruto for neglecting to condemn Ichung’wah’s disparaging remarks against the DP.

“Kimani Ichung’wah insults DP Gachagua while he is standing next to the President and the President does not reprimand him,” said Gakuya.

Speaking at the same event, the DP blasted out at a group of Members of Parliament regarding intentions to present an impeachment vote to depose him from his current position.

While addressing the issue, Gachagua remarked that impeachment was impossible because the Kenyan people elected him to the office.

“They’re threatening me that they will mobilize MPs to kick me out and install their puppet. They have given these MPs money to sell me fear,” Gachagua claimed.
