CS Duale Set To Join Ruto, Raila In New York for the 79th UN General Assembly
Aden Duale, the Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry Cabinet Secretary, left for New York on Saturday to attend the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
This year’s assembly will take place from September 22 to 23, with the theme “Unity in Diversity, for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for Everyone Everywhere.”
According to a dispatch from Duale’s office, one of the CS’s main priorities will be to ensure that the Meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) runs smoothly.
President William Ruto, who leads Kenya’s delegation to the UN General Assembly, is expected to preside over the meeting.

The CS is also planning bilateral meetings and side events during New York Climate Week.

The meetings aim to shape discussions and foster collaboration among African leaders as they address climate change challenges across the continent.
Duale will also take part in discussions about environmental issues, advocating for more international climate financing and highlighting Kenya’s progress in adapting to climate change and implementing sustainable practices.
Kenya intends to demonstrate its commitment to large-scale environmental restoration by announcing its goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032.
