MORARA KEBASO: Celebrated Activist Reveals Why He Openly Asks Funds From Kenyans
Morara Kebaso, a political activist, has explained why he openly fundraises for civic education activities that engage Kenyans across the country.
Morara explained in a statement posted on his X account on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, that his fundraising strategy is intended to challenge Kenya’s current political campaign financing system.
Morara emphasized that his public fundraising efforts are a way to promote transparency and support individuals of integrity seeking leadership positions.
He stated that many Kenyans have financially supported his initiatives, which he believes are aimed at driving change and holding leaders accountable.
In his statement, Morara stated that by seeking public support, he hopes to pave the way for more ethical political leaders to step forward without being bound by corrupt systems or wealthy donors with vested interests.

He explained that this new approach could help ‘sweep out’ corrupt politicians who had previously dominated the political scene.
“By unashamedly raising money from the public, I am redefining the culture of campaign financing in Kenya.
“I am opening doorways to persons of integrity who want to occupy positions of leadership to also find the courage to be supported so that we sweep out and imprison the thieves that have possessed our country for their greed,” Morara stated.
This comes just days after Morara called on Kenyans to fundraise for a new political initiative aimed at reshaping the country’s political landscape.
This initiative, he stated, will promote inclusivity and provide a platform for ordinary citizens to actively participate in shaping Kenya’s future.

Morara’s vision included establishing an office that would serve as a hub for Kenyans from all walks of life to collaborate and work towards a shared political agenda.
The anti-William Ruto activist recently announced that he would refund all supporters who felt misled by his civic education fundraising efforts.
Morara expressed dissatisfaction with continuing his advocacy, citing concerns about being labeled a conman and the resulting damage to his reputation.
He emphasized the importance of his family and professional responsibilities, stating that he intends to focus on personal and business matters instead.
