‘Very Shoddy Excercise!’ – DP Gachagua Calls Out Public Participation Process, Vows To Challenge

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stated that he will use legal means to challenge the public participation process surrounding his impeachment motion.

Gachagua described the public participation as “shoddy,” claiming that it was not carried out in accordance with the law.

This comes after Kenyans turned out to express their opinions on the impeachment motion against the DP.

The exercise, which took place across the country on Friday and Saturday, allowed Kenyans to express their views on the motion.

Gachagua stated that the public participation was conducted using legal jargon that many Kenyans may not understand.

“An attempt to do a public participation in a very shoddy exercise that was done. My response was not part of what was presented to Kenyans,” Gachagua said.

“Kenyans were being asked to give their views as to whether the Deputy President should be impeached from office, and the accusations were made, but in a highly legalistic language beyond the comprehension of many Kenyans.

“But the response of the DP was not there to enable them to make an informed decision by listening to the charges against him and his response.”

The DP stated that under the rules, he cannot be condemned without being heard.

“My lawyers will be vigorously challenging that public participation because it does not meet the threshold of public participation as expounded by the Supreme Court of Kenya,” he said.
