
ODM Appoints Mbadi Replacement In Parliament
On Wednesday, top Orange Democratic Party (ODM) officials endorsed ODM National Youth League President John Ketora’s nomination to replace National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi in the National Assembly.
Speaking after the ODM Youth League meeting in Machakos Town, Ketora acknowledged the 100% turnout from all 47 counties and read a statement from the team.
“The YL supports the nomination of its president, who is here talking to you, John Ketora as the member of the national assembly to fill the vacated position by our CS Treasury and our former chairman Mbadi.”
During the meeting, which was attended by ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Kisumu Woman representative Ruth Odinga, Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi and ODM deputy party leader expressed their party’s confidence in the Youth leader’s ability to serve in the mandate.

“This demonstrates that the top leadership of this party is committed to having a stronger and more vibrant youth league,” Osotsi said.
“So, I’m here to represent the top leadership and my other two deputy party leaders to say that as the top leadership of the party, we will support the youth league to be what it should be.”
Hon Umulkheir Harun, a nominated MP from Garissa and fellow youth league member, welcomed Ketora to the house during her address.
“We are happy to announce that we will also have a replacement in the just announced vacancy within the house and I’m happy to welcome my brother Ketora to the house,” said Harun.
The ODM officials also stated that, despite the fact that some of its top officials had been appointed to the cabinet, they would continue to perform their oversight duties as the opposition.

Edwin Sifuna, the party’s Secretary General, also emphasized the party’s success as the most organized party in Kenya, having represented all factions of society.
He also praised the youth league for having a clear understanding of their role as the opposition party.
“This shows that the young people in this party know who they are, they know themselves, they know their party, and therefore, the youth league president, I want to congratulate you for continuing with the good work of ensuring you fly the flag of ODM as high as possible,” Sifuna said.
“We have three leagues; youth, women, and ODM disability, and all these leagues are critical to the functioning and success of this party,” Sifuna stated.
“I’m extremely encouraged by the message that has come out of this meeting that this party will retain its identity even in light of recent developments in the formation of the broad-based government.”
Senator Orengo, the self-proclaimed oldest member of the youth league, praised the party’s leadership for upholding its norms.
“We are going to keep our identity, vision and remain the best organized party not only in the Republic of Kenya, but in the region,” Orengo stated.

“With that vision, organisation, and discipline that our members have, the sky isn’t the limit, the sky is just a target, and we aim above the sky. We are going to succeed.”
During the press conference, they also discussed Party leader Raila’s bid for the African Union Chairmanship, urging Kenyans to continue to believe in him and pray for him as the elections approach.
“If you continue with your support for the party leader, I believe in the fullness of time, he will be able to make it to the AU,” Sifuna said.
“Thank you for endorsing the proposal that came from the central committee on the changes in the party’s leadership beginning with three deputy leaders and also the new chairperson, Gladys Wanga.”
