Section Of Mulembe Nation Leaders Warns Against Speaker Wetangula Ouster

Some Western leaders have come out strongly against any attempts to remove National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

This comes after rumors circulated in recent days about the existence of a plot to depose the former Foreign Affairs Minister.

Speaking in Kakamega on Saturday, Deputy Governor of Kakamega County Ayub Savula stated that leaders from Western Kenya will not tolerate any attempts to replace the National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula, who is one of their own.

Savula defended Speaker Wetangula, pointing out that he has demonstrated strong leadership, particularly in parliament, where he serves as chair of the Parliamentary Service Commission.

According to him, Wetangula’s dedication to his duties is exceptional, and as such, there are no valid reasons to remove him from the office.

Any attempt to remove Speaker Wetangula, according to the deputy governor, is ill-advised and will not be tolerated.

“I hear members of parliament from other areas organizing themselves to take the seat of the Speaker Moses Wetangula,” he warned hinting there will be political consequences to the ruling Kenya Kwanza government.

“Tell them that is akin to playing with fire. We will not allow our speaker to be removed from that seat,” he added firing a warning to plotters who are eyeing to install another speaker.

“The seat of the speaker of the National Assembly belongs to Moses Wetang’ula.”

The latest development follows the impeachment of Rigathi’s Gachagua, who was removed by the Senate on 11 charges.

Wetangula presided over the sessions that led to MPs kicking him out.

Meanwhile, it is widely expected that once President Ruto emerges victorious in the courts and Kithure Kindiki is sworn in as Deputy President, the Head of State will make changes to his administration.

This is the basis for speculation that Wetangula could be kicked out. Wetangula hasn’t responded to the speculation.
