Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary, has been appointed acting Cabinet Secretary for the Interior and National Administration Ministries.
Under an executive order issued on Thursday, President William Ruto appointed Prime Minister CS Musalia Mudavadi as acting Interior cabinet secretary.
It comes as Kithure Kindiki is scheduled to be sworn in on Friday DP at KICC in Nairobi at 10 a.m., according to Mercy Wanjau, the head of the assumption of office committee.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary and the acting cabinet secretary for the Interior and National Administration Ministries both declared Friday, November 1, 2024, as a public holiday to commemorate the swearing-in of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

The appointment comes as Kithure Kindiki, the former CS of Interior and National Administration Ministry, prepares to be sworn in tomorrow, Friday.
The High Court lifted conservatory orders on Thursday, allowing Kithure Kindiki, the deputy president nominee to replace ousted Rigathi Gachagua, to be sworn in.
The three-judge bench, which included Justices Eric Ogolla, Anthony Mrima, and Fridah Mugambi, ruled that the conservatory orders would severely impede the government’s ability to carry out its constitutional functions.
In their verdict delivered in Nairobi, the bench also stated that the office of the deputy president requires continuity, so there was no need for the orders to stand.

According to Justice Anthony Mrima, the public interest and constitutional provisions required that the deputy president’s position not remain vacant.
Musalia Mudavadi will serve as acting Cabinet Secretary of Interior and Minister of National Administration while President William Ruto fills the position.
It comes as President Ruto travels to Bujumbura, Burundi, to attend the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
Kithure Kindiki is set to be sworn in as the new Deputy President tomorrow at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi after the High Court overturned orders barring the ceremony following Gachagua’s impeachment.
