Gachagua’s Powerful Message To Supporters After Embu Event Snub

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua delivered a message to the people of Embu on Saturday evening, November 16, following a bittersweet event.

In an interesting turn of events, Gachagua found himself on the same platform as President William Ruto, his successor Kithure Kindiki, and former President Uhuru Kenyatta for the Episcopal ordination and installation of Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani as Bishop of Embu Diocese.

The fact that Gachagua was seated in a separate tent from other guests on Saturday highlighted the terrible reality of his political fate.

However, he was surrounded by other leaders, including his staunch buddy Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba.

There were no niceties shared between Gachagua and the Head of State, indicating that there was no love lost between the two sides one month after the former was impeached.

Also, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, who hosted the event, offered all significant leaders, except Gachagua, the opportunity to address the audience.

Gachagua fulfilled his commitment a few weeks ago, claiming that people in his region tend to ‘stay quiet and peaceful’ when offended.

One advantage for Gachagua was the warm response he received from the hundreds of ordinary Kenyans in attendance.

The former Deputy President greeted the Embu crowd on social media, sending them a thanks message.

“Thank you so much the people of Embu for the love and warm reception. I love you too,” Gachagua declared on Saturday.

The former Deputy President mentioned this while posting a video of the loud applause he received at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, President Ruto ignored Gachagua’s presence and instead concentrated on more serious matters in his speech.

On Thursday, the President addressed issues made by clergy, including the thorny topic of the Social Health Authority.

“The other day I got greetings from the council of bishops in the form of a letter so before tomorrow I will look for a Catholic church to attend so that my week can be complete, as the church has directed today,” President Ruto said.

He added, “I want to assure the bishops like they have corrected us that there are a few mistakes, we shall correct those mistakes because Universal Health Coverage is a must-do because it will make a difference and ensure no citizen is left behind.”

Despite the President’s assurances, the crowd seemed unconvinced, and Ruto’s speech was interrupted several times by jeers from the Embu faithful, particularly when sensitive themes were raised.
