Missing Wajir MCA’s Party Issues Strict Demands To DCI, NIS While Calling For Justice

The United Democratic Party has condemned the abduction of Wajir Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, which occurred in Nairobi.

UDM’s party leader Ali Roba, speaking at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi while greeting new members, emphasized the need for justice for the family.

He highlighted that any claims against the MCA must be addressed legally and that the MCA’s kidnapping has caused untold anguish to Hussein’s family, the community, and the UDM party.

“We are calling on the Inspector General of police, the director of criminal investigations (DCI), the National Intelligence Service (NIS), and any other agencies that may be holding the honourable Yusuf to immediately bring him to court,” he warned.

“If there are any allegations against him (Hussein), he should be allowed to face them through the proper channels of justice,” he added.

The party also welcomed new Dagoretti members who had joined. The UDM party had four governors elected on its ticket, two elected senators, and one nominated senator.

In addition, the party has six elected members of parliament (MPs), one nominated MP, 18 elected MCAs and 13 nominated MCAs.

Della Anole ward MCA, a minority whip in the Wajir County Assembly and a UDM candidate, was kidnapped in Nairobi on September 13 by gunmen.

On October 20, a body allegedly belonging to the Wajir MCA was discovered abandoned in Lake Yahud, with kin recognizing it.

However, DNA analysis the following week revealed that the body recovered from Lake Yahud did not match that of Yussuf.

At the end of October, Hussein’s kin petitioned the High Court for an order to deliver the MCA, dead or alive.

The family alleged before High Court Judge Alexander Muteti that the government may have deposited the wrong body in Lake Yahud in order to mislead the missing MCA’s family.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, November 7, Inspector General (IG) of Police Douglas Kanja reiterated that no arrests had been made in connection with the kidnapping of Wajir member of county assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein Ahmed.

Various quotas, including those of human rights groups and the MCA’s family, have put pressure on Yusuf to be produced.
