‘We Applaud You!’ – DP Kindiki Heaps Praises On Ruto For Raila, Uhuru Pact

Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki has praised President William Ruto for taking the initiative in uniting the country.

Kindiki commended Ruto for reaching out to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He stated that the country’s progress will be faster since all Kenyans will be working toward the same goal.

The DP underlined that although the government works to build the country, it must do it in the name of previous and future generations.

“As you lead us in the transformation and progress of our country, at this moment, we applaud you for realizing that Kenya’s progress will be faster if the country is united,” Kindiki said during the Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.

“Thank you for reaching out to as many stakeholders as possible, to bring everyone on the table so that we can all pull in one direction of making sure that our country moves to the next level.

The DP continued: “We applaud you for reaching out to the former Prime Minister for the establishment of the broad-based government, and we thank you for reaching out to the former President Uhuru Kenyatta and making sure that going forward, all of us, every stakeholder, is on the table as we decide the destiny of our country and as we lift the weights that we must lift in honour of the previous generation, and also in honour of the generations to come.”

His words came just a week after President William Ruto met privately with retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta at his house in Ichaweri, Gatundu.

It was the first time the two leaders had met secretly since the 2022 elections. Following the meeting, Kindiki stated that it was an excellent move for the country’s stability.

Ruto served as Uhuru’s deputy for two terms before parting ways in the 2022 elections, with the former president backing Raila’s candidacy.

Ruto approached Raila early this year after the Gen Z anti-state rallies, and the two agreed to collaborate.

Following the agreement, at least five members of Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party were nominated to the Cabinet.
