AUC DEBATE: Raila Shows Brilliance, Eloquence With Powerful Message For Africans
Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has asked Africans to watch the highly anticipated Mjadala Afrika discussion.
He will battle three other contenders for the prestigious position of African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson.
The experienced politician and proponent of pan-Africanism will face off against three opponents: Mahmoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti, Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar, and Anil Gayan of Mauritius.

Raila highlighted his enthusiasm for the event in a statement posted on his official X account on Friday, December 13, 2024, highlighting the need for togetherness and introspection in addressing Africa’s difficulties and celebrating its success.
He highlighted the debate as an opportunity to commemorate Africa’s path of resilience and optimism since 1963, while also establishing a plan for the next four decades under the AU’s Agenda 2063 framework.

“As Africans, we have an ages-old tradition of putting our heads together in the evening to reminisce on the day that is ending and anticipate the next one,” Raila stated.

He invited Africans to participate in this watershed moment, referring to the debate as “a celebration of Africa’s century”.
