UDA MP Under Fire As Residents Clashed With Police Against Her Leadership
Martha Wangari, Gilgil Member of Parliament, is on the scene as constituents took to the streets to criticize her leadership.
Chaos erupted in Kongasis, Elementaita Gilgil, Nakuru County after disgruntled people took to the streets to protest the MP’s poor leadership.
The outraged locals, who have been protesting against the county’s leadership for the past month, took to the streets to keep the pressure on her and demand services.
The enraged people set fires and blocked highways in protest of their right to development. Police were forced to use tear gas to disperse them.
Some police officers attempted to engage in conversations with demonstrators in order to persuade them to leave the demonstrations, while others arrested some of them.

Residents of Kongasis have been demonstrating against Susan Kihika, County Governor.
According to the demonstrators, the county revenue granted by the national government is not dispersed fairly throughout the county’s seats.
Residents complained about a revenue distribution shortfall caused by the leadership’s unfair allocation of resources.
They said that resources are apportioned based on tribes, leaving some people marginalised.
With a population of 80,000, locals have complained about having only one transformer to serve 32 settlements.
They have blamed MP Martha Wangari for moving the Kongasis Market project, which was awarded by President Ruto, to another location, leaving them without a market.
The inhabitants are now pleading with President Ruto to intervene and assist them get the progress they deserve.

“We have stayed here for a long time, but we hardly see any development,” a resident revealed.
“It’s not that development does not happen; it’s just that every time, it is diverted to other parts. Now we are tired, and we cannot keep quiet.”
MP Wangari assumed leadership in 2017 after previously serving as a senator.
During the Jamhuri Day celebrations, she reaffirmed her commitment to development in the constituency.
