Gov’t Introduces New Marriage Service For Weddings
Kenyans getting married in the Attorney General’s office will now be able to enjoy a luxury wedding ceremony, as opposed to previous formal arrangements.
This comes after the Attorney General’s office and the Department of Justice announced an enhancement to marriage services geared to satisfy couples’ different choices.
Attorney General Dorcas Oduor has announced that couples can now have backyard weddings for a charge.
“Couples can select and procure a beautiful, serene outdoor setting for their special day, ensuring a memorable experience while securing compliance with all legal requirements for marriage registration,” the notice read in part.
The AG also announced the opening of a VIP Marriage Room in Nairobi.

The chamber will provide an elite, expedited marriage service for couples who want an elegant and efficient wedding experience.
“This service shall be offered at an up-scaled fee to reflect the premium features including a private, well-appointed room designed for personalised ceremonies and the option for couples to decorate the room according to their preferences,” the notice contained.
According to the AG, the VIP Room is part of the office’s commitment to Kenyans, giving them the freedom to create memorable memories on their wedding day.
The AG has invited couples interested in these services to visit its marriage section offices.
These new elements will change the way Kenyans perceive civil marriages, which have traditionally been an official affair held in the AG’s office with little flash and splendor.

Civil marriages in Kenya are performed by the Registrar of Marriages, Deputy County Commissioners, and Assistant County Commissioners.
Before planning a civil marriage, determine whether it is under a notice or a special license.
The decision by the AG’s office is one of several key improvements aimed at streamlining services for Kenyans.
The AG has launched offices in 15 new counties around the country in an effort to make its services more accessible to all Kenyans.
