How Kenya’s Security Agencies Thwarted 47 Terrorist Attacks – PCS Mudavadi
Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Acting Interior CS, claims that security agencies foiled 47 planned terrorist assaults around the country, neutralised numerous terrorists, and achieved 11 successful convictions.
Mudavadi, speaking during a security news briefing at Harambee House, stated that between January 2022 and November 2024.
He attributed these results to improved coordination with international agencies, which supplied essential training and equipment to strengthen Kenya’s security capacity.
As the festive season approaches, Mudavadi reaffirmed the government’s unshakable commitment to the safety of all Kenyans and residents.

He observed a general decrease in crimes such as robbery, break-ins, stock theft, vehicle thefts, narcotics offenses, traffic infractions, and corruption charges.
Mudavadi, on the other hand, expressed alarm about an increase in vandalism targeting electric power transmission infrastructure, which is causing considerable power outages and economic losses.
He stated that 114 acts of vandalism have been reported around the country, with 81 cases already in court and 33 more being investigated.
In the fight against cattle rustling in the North Rift, Mudavadi praised the effectiveness of the multi-agency Operation Maliza Uhalifu, which brought together the National Police Service and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

The operation, which covered Baringo, Turkana, Samburu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Marsabit, Laikipia, Isiolo, and Meru counties that were previously classified as “Disturbed” and “Dangerous,” resulted in a remarkable 62% drop in cattle rustling incidences.
According to Mudavadi, the operation led to the arrest of 250 people, including 14 political leaders, the recovery of 14,598 cows, and the surrender of 240 guns.
However, he grieved the unfortunate deaths of 179 civilians and four security officers during the exercise.
In support of recovery efforts, Mudavadi stated that the government had rebuilt 11 primary schools, with 5 more being renovated.
“Plans are underway to restore 9 more schools in time for the first term of the upcoming academic year,” he said.
When discussing disasters, Mudavadi emphasized the devastation caused by situations such as industrial mishaps, oil spills, and chemical or gas leaks.

He singled out the recent gas explosion in Embakasi, Nairobi, which killed 13 people and injured nearly 300.
The Prime CS emphasized that such disasters highlight the necessity for more stringent environmental control procedures.
He emphasized that the government is enforcing and updating legislation, as well as improving early warning systems to better foresee and respond to disasters.
Mudavadi finished by emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to national security, crime prevention, restoring peace in volatile areas, and protecting civilians from environmental and industrial threats.
