Registrar of Parties Responds To Gachagua’s New Party Registration Rumours
The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) denied accusations on Thursday that it had registered a political party created by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement, the ORPP identified a false notification circulating on the internet.
The office juxtaposed the bogus warnings with its earlier notice, which was disseminated on Tuesday via MyGov, the government’s weekly publication.
The bogus notice claimed that the Registrar of Political Parties had registered the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), with Rigathi Gachagua, Cleophas Malala, and Gathoni Wamuchomba named as founding members.
Ann Nderitu, the Registrar of Political Parties, reported that her office received three parties, none of which had Gchagua as a founder member.
The Forum for Economic Development Agenda (FEDA), Kenya United Generation Party (KUG), and Future Party (TFP) were all in the process of being registered, according to the registrar.

“In line with Section 5 (2) (a) of the Political Parties Act, 2011 the Registrar of Political Parties is in the process of provisionally registering the proposed political parties,” read the ORPP’s statement.
The cancellation of Gachagua’s political party registration comes just a day after the former deputy president hinted at forming a coalition with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in a bid for the presidency in the 2027 general election.
Speaking in Mbooni Constituency, Makueni County, Gachagua said he would look for methods to form a political coalition with Kalonzo, whom he said he owed a favor for supporting former President Mwai Kibaki in the 2002 General Election.
While accusing President Ruto of betraying him, Gachagua praised the Wiper Party leader, claiming that he stood up to the Kenya Kwanza Government.

He recently stated that he would make a statement about this.
Following his impeachment, Gachagua’s close allies and critics from Mount Kenya accused him of hesitating to form a political party before joining President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance.
Following his impeachment, the UDA removed Gachagua’s deputy party chairmanship on the grounds that he was impeached and could no longer hold the position.
