Kalonzo, Wamalwa Respond To Gachagua’s Possible Alliance Claim
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has broken his silence on the possibility of forming a partnership with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua ahead of the 2027 national elections.
Speaking after attending a burial ceremony in Embu on Thursday, Azimio principals led by Kalonzo, DAP Kenya’s Eugene Wamalwa, and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu welcomed the former DP to join the opposition leaders.
Addressing the congregation, Kalonzo expressed confidence in the coalition’s success, stating that Azimio would continue to perform its opposition tasks despite the new government appointments.
“Either in government or in opposition, as we almost begin January, we want to tell those who joined the government to go alone, but the coalition would continue to operate. We must have a new coalition,” said Kalonzo.

Wamalwa shared Kalonzo’s comments and endorsed a collaboration with Gachagua, urging Kenyans to embrace the initiative.
“We heard that the former DP said that he was ready to join hands with Kalonzo and Wamalwa, do you agree that Gachagua should join us?” Wamalwa queried the audience.
Kalonzo and Wamalwa’s remarks came a day after Gachagua indicated an interest in collaborating with Azimio leaders ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Gachagua, addressing at a burial service in Makueni County on Wednesday, December 18, said the Kamba community was invited to join other groups in future aspirations.

“Wiper people led by Kalonzo have shown grace and we have decided you are our friends for life. And we don’t just say that. When we say it, we mean it,” Gachagua stated.
“We owe Kalonzo and you people. We are in talks with Kalonzo and we will strategise well. We are in talks as Kenyans and we are looking for a way to improve the economy and end the culture of lies,” he added.
The former DP also stated that the Kamba community had the numbers to unseat President Ruto’s administration in the upcoming general elections, but only if they showed out in big numbers.
