‘Ruto Is Using Illicit Alcohol To Kill Mt Kenya People!’ – Gachagua Claims
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has again criticized President William Ruto, accusing him of promoting drunkenness in the Mount Kenya region.
Speaking at a church service in Naivasha, Gachagua said that, despite winning the fight against alcohol and drug misuse in the region during his stint as Deputy President, the President had undone his work.
“The Interior Security PS was instructed by the President to reopen all those alcohol factories, and they were urged to sell the alcohol exclusively in Mount Kenya. It is not sold in Rift Valley or anywhere else. Yesterday, three people died in Bahati,” he claimed.
“Since they forced me out of office, the President has ordered all the illicit alcohol that kills people to be brought here to destroy our young people.”
Gachagua also recalled urging the President against restarting the enterprises while he was in power, but his appeals were ignored.
He argued that the President’s move was a deliberate attempt to lower the voter population in the Mountain region.

“Police and chiefs have been instructed to allow people to continue drinking the deadly alcohol, so the number of registered voters decreases,” he claimed.
“It is immoral; it is unacceptable to target a community for destruction and extinction through the sale of poison to them. It is entirely possible to end the war on alcoholism because I had already achieved it.”
In his emotional statement, the former Deputy President encouraged the President to visit the Mountain rather than wait for tempers to cool and to answer the problems they raised.

Among the points he wanted the President to explain was why he thought Kenyans were ‘stupid’ for not vaccinating their animals.
He also referred to the President’s criticism of the clergy, reminding him that they had held his hand and prayed for him during the campaign.
“Come and tell these people why you are sending poisonous alcohol to Mount Kenya to kill their children yet they loved you and voted for you,” he added.
“The questions you have to answer are more than 100 but prepare to answer at least those five or six. Come and don’t be afraid of anger because the people are getting angrier because you have now started insulting people.”
