Kenyan Man Detained In The U.S. After Woman’s Remains Found In His Car

A man named Nobert Matara, 32, of Kenyan heritage has been detained in connection with the killing of a woman whose remains were discovered in his vehicle in the United States of America on Friday night.

Tracy Nyariki, 31, of Newark, Delaware, went missing in Bear, New Castle County, according to a statement released by the Aberdeen Police Department to AfricasNow.

Her employer filed a report with the police because she hadn’t been to work in several days. Police issued a Gold Alert to help find Nyariki.

In the United States, the “Gold Alert Program” refers to the methods taken to help identify and locate a missing individual.

Gold alerts can be local, regional, or statewide. According to US law, the investigating law-enforcement agency makes the initial decision to issue a local gold alert.

Police became suspicious after performing a search of Nyariki’s residence, as she was not present at the Village of Kent Apartments in Bear.

“We uncovered several suspicious circumstances that raised concerns about her safety and well-being,” police said.

The officials recognized Matara as ‘a potential person of interest’ in her disappearance.

“On Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 5:00 PM, officers from the Aberdeen Police Department were asked by the New Castle County Police Department in Delaware to assist in locating a missing person and a potential male homicidal person,” reads part of the statement.

Matara’s vehicle was discovered in Aberdeen, Maryland, with the suspect present at the time.

“Officers responded to the 1100 block of S. Philadelphia Blvd and located the homicidal male. Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of human remains in a vehicle. The male was later arrested,” the statement added.
