On Sunday, December 29, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi issued a demand to activist Morara Kebaso regarding alleged defamatory remarks.

Sudi accused Kebaso, in a demand letter sent by his lawyers, Limo and Njoroge Advocates, of publishing a photo of Sudi engaged in discussion with Kasmuel McOure to his 280,000 followers on the X account with a defamatory caption.

“We act for Hon Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, the sitting Member of Parliament for Kapseret Constituency, whose stellar reputation, earned through years of public service and business acumen, you have maliciously and recklessly defamed through your publication on the X platform (formerly Twitter) dated 22 December 2024 at 11.21 AM,” the law firm stated.

The lawyers also claimed that the civic educator, who has been at the vanguard of keeping the government in check, broke the law by defaming Sudi via direct reference and innuendo.

According to the law company, Kebaso portrayed their client as a ‘murderer’, ‘profiteer’, ‘dishonest leader’, and ‘corrupt associate’ by alluding to “these same people” and juxtaposing Sudi’s photograph beside the words “killed GenZs in cold blood and benefited from it”.

They also stated that Kebaso’s article “further implies a criminal conspiracy, falsely associating our client with unspecified heinous acts.”

Sudi accused Kebaso of publishing the claimed defamatory remarks “recklessly and without verifying any facts” through his lawyers.

They also argued that Kebaso was aware of the impact his article would have on Sudi’s reputation.

To that end, the law firm made three demands on behalf of their client to Kebaso, including a written, unqualified, and unreserved apology.

Other demands included an instant acknowledgment of culpability and an unambiguous promise not to post any defamatory photographs or words about Sudi that could be inferred through innuendo again.

The law firm gave Kebaso three days to respond to their demands; failing to do so would result in the launch of necessary legal procedures against him.

In what appears to be a building war between Sudi and Kebaso, the politician lambasted the activist and civic educator on December 24 for deceiving the younger generation and allegedly defrauding Kenyans of their hard-earned money.

“Morara Kebaso, stop misleading our children the Gen-Zs for your own selfish gains,” Sudi wrote.

“Creating havoc and panic in the country instead of constructive criticism. We know you’ve been fleecing  Kenyans and their hard-earned cash in the name of Activism.”

“We see through your charade—you are a mouthpiece for your paymaster and a willing pawn in his divisive agenda. Fake activist!”
