Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has thanked President William Ruto for supporting Raila Odinga’s bid for Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

Speaking in Narok County, Junet expressed optimism about Raila’s chances of gaining the seat, emphasizing the importance of Ruto’s support.

“Sisi kama ODM tunashukuru vile umesaidia baba Raila kwa safari yake ya kwenda AUC,” he said, referring to Raila’s ongoing campaign to lead the AUC.

Junet went on to say that it has become evident that anything President Ruto favors is likely to prevail, noting the President’s own political experience and influence.

He was confident that Ruto’s support for Raila would be key in gaining the seat.

“Raila winning the AUC chairmanship will be one of Ruto’s enduring legacies,” Junet added.

He stressed the long-term impact that a successful candidacy will have in Kenya and Africa.

Former Prime Minister Raila has been nominated for the AUC chairmanship, which oversees the implementation of African Union policies and decisions.

His candidacy is supported by several African countries, and his experience in both national and international diplomacy has positioned him as a strong contender for the coveted position.

Raila’s bid for the AUC chairmanship has been framed as part of Kenya’s broader diplomatic efforts to strengthen its role on the African continent.

The election is expected to take place during the upcoming African Union summit, and Raila’s supporters hope his leadership will bring reforms and development to the continent’s institutions.

A candidate is required to garner votes from at least 34 countries to become the AUC boss.
