KWS, Police Ordered To Produce Brian Odhiambo Dead Or Alive On Tuesday
The Nakuru High Court has ordered the Nakuru East Sub-County DCI and the officer in charge of Lake Nakuru National Park to bring fisherman Brian Odhiambo or his body to court on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, to explain the facts behind his detention.
Following the Independent Medico-Legal Unit’s (IMLU) plea, Justice Julius Nangea ordered DCI Nakuru to appear in court on the same date.

This comes as citizens of Nakuru have engaged police in running battles, a situation that has been common in the area over the last week.

Residents of Kivumbini, Manyani, and Bondeni in Nakuru East battled with police in a tense standoff sparked by the abduction of a local fisherman.
Odhiambo was last seen with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officials in Lake Nakuru National Park on a routine patrol, which has subsequently turned into a mystery.
“Tuliweza kwenda kotini na tukapewa directive jana tarehe 24 ya kwamba DCIO Nakuru East na mkubwa in charge of Lake Nakuru National Park waweze kuappear in court personally on 28th Tuesday saa tatu,” said Nakuru IMLU activist David Kuria.
Carlos Omondi, brother to Brian Odhiambo who was arrested by KWS officers at Lake Nakuru National Park demands his release.

The people, who have been on the streets since Odhiambo’s disappearance, have pledged to continue protesting until KWS officials bring him back.
The KWS is accused of beating him up and pulling him into their car, following which he was never seen or heard from again.

“Sisi tumeamua no Brayo, no peace. Kitu wamefanya ni unconstitutional. Ukishika mtu unampeleka kotini within 24 hours,” Esther, a resident said.
“They are supposed to release that person. Even if it’s the body, they should bring the body so we can see it.”
“Kuna haja watupatie mtoto wetu Brayo. Kama wanatuulia watoto, sisi nao tutafanya nini? Watupatie watoto wetu ndio amani ikuwe. Wakitupatia watoto sisi hatuna shida,” a resident said.
According to eyewitnesses, Brian Odhiambo was roughed up and taken away by Kenya Wildlife Service officials stationed at Lake Nakuru National Park on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
