‘There’s A Bigger Scheme!’ – Gachagua Exposes Ruto’s Plan To Ouster CJ Martha Koome

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made another stinging claim against Kenya Kwanza’s government on Sunday, this time centered on embattled Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Gachagua, speaking to members at Meru PCEA Church, alleged there was a sophisticated plan to remove Koome from power before the 2027 General Election.

According to Gachagua, President William Ruto was also considering disbanding the Supreme Court ahead of the next election.

The former DP went on to claim that a fund had already been set aside for the initiative.

“There is a bigger scheme to dismantle the Supreme Court ahead of the 2027 elections,” Gachagua said. “A budget has been set aside through the National Intelligence Service.”

Gachagua’s remarks came just days after it was revealed that Koome’s security detail had been withdrawn and then reinstated, a scenario that has become all too typical among senior judges in recent years.

While referring to Koome’s recent troubles, the former DP claimed it was a premeditated ploy by the State to get the Chief Justice to retire.

He added, “All those petitions you see in the Supreme Court are the makings of the government because they would like to put a Supreme Court bench that is amicable to what those in power want.”

Following the departure of CJ Koome’s security detail, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen criticized the Lady Justice for making the situation too public.

Murkomen stated that the withdrawal was a standard procedure for the National Police Service (NPS).

Another scandal that has erupted at the Supreme Court in recent weeks is a petition by former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi, who wants Koome and other Supreme Court judges removed for alleged egregious misconduct.

However, Gachagua, whose political approach relies on making friends with leaders adversely hit by the government, advised Koome to stay behind as he called on the international community to intervene.

The former Deputy President appears to have strengthened his political allegiances.

This was obvious on Saturday, January 25, when he announced his new approach by teaming up with NARC Kenya party head Martha Karua.

The two leaders, who were previously adversaries and frequently criticized each other because of their opposing political ideas stemming from their disparate political affiliations, met at Karua’s residence in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, for what appears to be reconciliation.
