INHUMAN! Nairobi Kanjos Seen Confining Hawker’s Child Inside County Van [VIDEO]

The Nairobi City Council is embroiled in a scandal following the release of a viral video showing the child of a female hawker being confined in a car by county officials.

The undated video circulating online begins after the city inspectorate and revenue collection employees, often known as kanjos, have already confiscated the hawker’s stuff, presumably for illegal hawking.

It shows the products, as well as the youngster, inside the county vehicle, but it is unclear whether the kanjos actually placed the child inside.

The toddler was observed crying and wailing for her mother during the event on Tom Mboya Street.

Similarly, the female hawker can be seen screaming at the top of her lungs, anxious for the release of both her product and the youngster.

Her shouts draw a crowd of onlookers, who surround the van and refuse to let it move until the youngster is rescued.

During the hubbub, the woman is seen arguing with an unidentified city official.

The source suggests that the mother may have placed the youngster in the truck as a last-ditch effort to get her merchandise released.

“We ndiye umemweka (ndani ya gari),” the official can be heard saying.
