SHELL: Vivo Energy Breaks Silence On Claims Of Poor Grade Fuel

Vivo Energy Kenya has denied allegations that it sells low-quality fuel at Nairobi petrol stations.

Vivo Energy Kenya is the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell products in the nation.

The business issued a statement on Sunday dismissing a video circulating on social media that claimed random tests on petrol quality had been conducted on fuel from various stations.

Vivo Energy stated they had strict quality control processes in place at their depots to ensure that all fuels satisfy the needed standards.

“Our fuel imports into Kenya adhere to strict quality standards, with two standard Research Octane Number (RON) categories: Unleaded (RON 93) and Shell V-Power (RON 95),” they said in a statement on Sunday.

“Each shipment is certified at source and undergoes further rigorous testing upon arrival into the country.”

They also stated that they verify that all fuels fulfill the necessary criteria before being dispensed through our nationwide Shell service station network.

“We take these claims seriously and have initiated a comprehensive investigation, including independent laboratory testing. We will provide further updates once our review is complete.”

In a video uploaded online, some people were seen purportedly assessing the quality of fuel in comparison with other fuels.

Kenyans and social media users have different reactions to the move.
