REVEALED: Autopsy Shows What Justin Mutumwa, Martin Mwau Died From

Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau, the Mlolongo 2 abductees discovered dead in January, died from various stomach and chest injuries caused by a blunt object and strangulation, pathologist Richard Njoroge said.

Njoroge revealed on Wednesday at the City Mortuary that the two remains had already decayed significantly by the time the postmortem was performed.

“For the first body (Mutumwa), there were multiple abdominal, chest, and head injuries and we also have defense injuries on the arms,” explained Njoroge.

“It looks like there was a struggle. When you try to defend yourself, you will get what we call defense injuries on the arms and the wrists.”

“The second body (Mwau) was very decomposed. The main findings were a scalp or head injury. He also had posterior abdominal wall and thoracic injuries. Again, it was multiple injuries,” detailed the pathologist.

“The other main finding on the second body was injuries in the strap muscles of the neck. So we came to the conclusion that the cause of death of the second body was manual neck compression.”

The two men who were part of the Mlolongo Four were found dead on Thursday, January 31.

This happened barely three hours after the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohammed Amin, appeared in court to answer on their whereabouts.

Mutumwa was discovered dead in Ruai and taken to City Mortuary in Nairobi, according to his family’s lawyer, Dan Maanzo.

The family stated that his body was collected from Ruai and taken to the mortuary on December 18, 2024, only two days after he went missing.

“A quick check of fingerprints has confirmed that it is him,” Maanzo told the media.

Mwau, on the other hand, was discovered dead in the Nairobi Funeral Home, which was previously known as City Mortuary.

According to reports, Martin, who had been gone for 44 days, disappeared on December 17. The revelation raised new doubts about his disappearance.

On December 16 and 17, 2024, four men from Mlolongo in Machakos County went missing: Justus Mutumwa, Martin Mwau, Karani Mwema, and Stephen Mbisi Kavingu.

They were reportedly apprehended by masked individuals who appeared to be police officials.

The National Police Service (NPS) stated that it was never involved in the purported kidnapping of the four and was merely investigating the case.

After a lengthy dispute, IG Kanja and DCI boss Amin denied taking the four into custody and maintained the police had no involvement in their disappearance.
