MENTAL HEALTH: A 9-Year-Old Child Kills Self By Hanging In Homa Bay
A nine-year-old Grade 4 student committed suicide in Riat Village, Rachuonyo subcounty, Homa Bay County, on Wednesday.
According to a police report, the incident was reported by Kenneth Malachi, the assistant chief of Lawere East.
The event occurred on Wednesday, at approximately 7.30 a.m. The deceased was a pupil at Aolo Primary School.
According to police, he used a nylon rope to hang himself on a mango tree. One of the neighbors spotted his body, swinging precariously from the tree.
A team of officers from the Kosele police station and the DCI of Rachuonyo South went to the location of the event.
No suicide note was discovered. The body was brought to the Karachuonyo sub-county hospital morgue awaiting post-mortem.
The occurrences occurred three days after a 16-year-old kid was discovered dead on a tree in Bungoma’s Menu hamlet, Sirisia.
The boy’s body was found hanging from a tree, with a piece of fabric tied around his neck. The motive for the occurrence is unknown.

The body, which had no evident injuries, was taken to the Bungoma Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Suicide rates have risen in tandem with initiatives to combat the tendency.
According to the World Health Organization, such situations are caused by unemployment, mortality, scholastic failures or pressures, legal issues, and financial challenges.
Other reasons include bullying, previous suicide attempts, family history of suicide, alcoholism and substance abuse, despair, and bipolar disease.
