UDA Senator William Cheptumo Is Dead After Short Illness – Family Confirms

Baringo Senator William Cheptumo has died at the age of 57 years.

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi confirmed the senator’s death to the media on Sunday, February 16. According to reports, the senator was hospitalised in Nairobi before passing away.

We have learn’t that the senator died on the evening of Saturday, February 15.

In one of Cheptumo’s final social media messages, the Senator wished Raila luck in the African Union Chairperson elections.

The cause of his death is yet to be revealed.

Shortly after the news came, President William Ruto remembered him as a progressive leader committed to public service.

Cheptumo was the Member of Parliament for Baringo North for 14 years before winning his first Senate seat in the 2022 General Elections.

To areas of the broader Rift Valley, the 57-year-old was famously recognized as the guy who ended the Moi government in Baringo, after defeating Gideon Moi in the 2022 elections with 141,777 votes to Moi’s 71,408.
