3-Word Newspaper Headline Against Museveni’s Son Prompting Ugandans For Protest
A controversy is brewing in Uganda when a local publication described General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s Chief of Defense Forces, as a ‘four-star brat.’
Members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) declared on Friday that they will protest Muhoozi’s unfair and insulting treatment at the Kenyan High Commission in Kampala next week.
This decision was made in response to a headline in The Standard newspaper titled ‘Four-star brat: Why Muhoozi tweeting General could fuel anger and division in DRC talks,’ which included photographs of Muhoozi dressed in military uniform.
Daudi Kabanda, PLU’s General Secretary, noted that the protest is slated for Wednesday and emphasized their intention to respond strongly to what they see as an insult to their chairman.
PLU is going to hold an Energetic demonstration at the Kenyan High Commission next week on Wednesday. They burnt our High Commission last year and we did not respond, now one of their newspapers has insulted our PLU CHAIRMAN, we will respond with full force!

“PLU is going to hold an energetic demonstration at the Kenyan High Commission next week on Wednesday,” Kabanda wrote on X.
“They burned our High Commission last year, and we did not respond. Now, one of their newspapers has insulted our PLU chairman. We will respond with full force!”
According to the group, the piece was aimed at Muhoozi, who also serves as the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations.
The article follows the general’s repeated tweets regarding the brutality against the Tutsi group in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
“My office will soon begin an audit of ALL media houses. These are the instructions of the commander-in-chief,” Muhoozi stated in a series of tweets.
Good idea! They must be BANNED in Uganda! Comrade Balaam implement it! https://t.co/9YzB7VSRsr

“From now on, all of you will report to my office! We are organising a cadre course (initial military training) for all managing directors of media houses. It will be a good one.”
However, the piece has become the most recent development in the diplomatic dispute between East African Community (EAC) member nations.

Muhoozi stated that he did not need to take any action because President William Ruto will handle the situation. Ruto and his office have both declined to comment on the situation.
If the protests go place, they will be the second since the forced kidnapping of opposition leader Kizza Besigye in Nairobi.
President Ruto chairs the EAC and is driving efforts to find a solution in the eastern DRC.
The crisis has increased this week, with allegations of explosions at a protest organized by the rebel organization M23 on Thursday, which has resulted in renewed combat this year.
