Former Notable MP Is Dead – Family Confirms
Willy Rotich Kamuren, the former MP for Baringo North, died on Friday, February 28, while receiving treatment in Nairobi.
According to reports, Kamuren died while being treated at a hospital in Nairobi.
Kamuren was a notable politician and businessman who made significant contributions to Baringo County politics.
Kamuren began his political career in 1963 when he was elected the first Member of Parliament (MP) for Baringo East, now Tiaty Constituency, on the Kenya African Democratic Union (KADU) ticket.

He was later nominated to Parliament in 1983 and was elected MP for the Baringo North Constituency by the Kenyan African National Union (KANU) from 1988 to 1997.
In addition to his function as an MP, Kamuren later worked as an Assistant Minister in the President’s Office.
He was a prosperous businessman who owned the Grand Holiday Hotel and Lodge on Accra Road in Nairobi.
Kumuren’s efforts are highly acknowledged, and his name is still cherished in Baringo County.
His family, friends, and constituents are mourning his death, remembering him as a dedicated leader who played an important role in politics.

“Saddened by the passing of Hon. Willy Rotich Kamuren, a leader who truly made a difference through his immense dedication to Baringo and Kenya; my thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest well, Mzee,” former nominated Gideon Keter stated.
He remembered him as a pioneer politician who influenced Kenya’s early parliament and impacted countless lives.
This comes after Baringo Senator William Cheptumo died from a short illness on Sunday, February 16.
Additionally, grief and a sombre mood engulfed the home of Malava Member of Parliament Moses Malulu Injendi following his demise at a Nairobi hospital after a short illness.
