
Kenya’s Police Investigate 5 Deaths By Suicide On Separate Occurrences
At least five people were discovered dead in separate suspected suicide cases reported to police.
Police said the events were recorded on March 4, illustrating the severity of the problem as efforts to limit it continue.
Karura Forest
The first occurrence occurred in Karura Forest in the city, when hikers discovered a person dangling from a tree on Tuesday evening.
The man, named Caleb Kirinya, had entered the woodland before abandoning a bag on a bench and hanging himself, according to authorities.
The hikers phoned Kenya Forest Service authorities, who came to the scene and confirmed that the man had entered the park through the Limuru Road entrance before allegedly hanging himself with a rope knotted around his neck.
The motive for the occurrence is unknown. The body was transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Karen Plains
In Karen Plains, Nairobi, a 24-year-old lady was discovered dead in her home after a suspected suicide mission.
Lydia Kwamboka was identified by police. She died by suicide while alone in her house.
According to police, a relative said that the woman had a marital dispute with her husband, who departed for work on Monday morning and returned to find her dead hanging from a nylon rope.
The body was transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Kasarani
In Nairobi’s Kasarani neighborhood, an 18-year-old male was discovered dead in his home following a suspected suicide.
Sankara Wambaa’s body was discovered in the house, swinging from a roof truss with a rope tied around his neck, long after he died on Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
The incident’s cause was unknown at the time, and the body was taken to the Kenyatta University mortuary for a postmortem.
Mukuru, Nairobi
In Nairobi’s Mukuru slums, a 51-year-old man was discovered dead in a lodge following a suicide.
A cleaner stated that she was doing her normal duties when she discovered Patrick Mungala’s body hanging on a window pane, with a belt around his neck.
The body was transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Wundanyi, Taita Taveta
Mwadavadi Mwelingo, 32, was discovered dead in his home in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta County, following a possible suicide.
Police said no suicide note was found, and they are still investigating the motive.

The body is currently in a local mortuary awaiting autopsy and other investigations.
According to police, suicides are on the upswing, with up to two reported each day. The administration has been taking steps to solve the problem.
According to the World Health Organization, such situations are caused by unemployment, mortality, scholastic failures or pressures, legal issues, and financial challenges.
Other reasons include bullying, previous suicide attempts, family history of suicide, alcoholism and substance abuse, despair, and bipolar disease.
