Rogue Super Metro Driver Arrested After Passenger Pushed To Death
Police in Ruiru, Kiambu County, have detained a Super Metro matatu driver following the death of a passenger who was thrown from the driving vehicle.
The incident has sparked public outrage since the matatu crew, who was operating along Thika Road, forced a passenger from a matatu due to a lack of sufficient fare.
Disturbing photographs of the passenger who was allegedly shoved from the moving matatu have caused outrage and criticism.

Thika Magistrate Stella Atambo disputes corruption claims and requests for the return of Ksh.2 million seized cash.
The matatu in question, registration number KDL 125N, was driven by David Nderitu on that fatal day.
According to reports, David and a tout from the matatu crew allegedly shoved Gilbert Thuku Kimani from the matatu, resulting in his death.
The event occurred along Thika Road at Kahawa Sukari. Gilbert had taken the matatu from Kahawa Wendani bound for Thika.
According to witnesses, Gilbert was supposed to pay Ksh.80 as fare, but only had Ksh.50. Gilbert and the tout got into a fight, which resulted in the tout pushing him out.
The matatu hurried away from the scene once it realized what had transpired. Police were notified, and the matatu was confiscated, with the driver arrested.
“The vehicle was driven by David Nderitu, who failed to stop where one passenger fell, and he was overrun by the rear tyre and he succumbed,” Ruiru Police Commander Charles Kibathi said.
” We are appealing to those who were inside the vehicle to come out and give us statements on what happened.”

Kibathi ncontinued: “So far the driver has been arrested and the vehicle is impounded awaiting inspection…the driver will be charged for causing death by dangerous driving.”
The tragedy has shocked Gilbert’s relatives.
A somber air pervaded the family home in Kandara, Murang’a County, as the family tried to cope with the death of a father and breadwinner.
As the family struggles to come to terms with this devastating news, their only hope is that those responsible will face the full wrath of the law and put an end to the country’s wreck-less matatu culture.
