Ndindi Nyoro, a Kiharu Member of Parliament, spoke out on Tuesday about his recent dismissal as Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee.

Nyoro told the press on Tuesday, March 18, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, that he does not know why he was removed from the Committee job.

According to the legislator, despite being removed a week ago, he never received an explanation from the coalition leaders as to why they decided to remove him.

Nyoro went on to say that he learned about his dismissal as Committee Chairperson through the press.

He says that no one phoned to inquire about why he was dismissed from the lucrative parliamentary seat.

“I do not know why I was replaced, I am saying it in good faith, I came to set the record straight. No one in the leadership of our coalition has ever called me in regards to the position,” Nyoro revealed.

“I was holding this position knowing that I was serving Kenyans, so I am answerable, I read in newspapers about my removal the same way you did and that is the truth,” he added.

The senator expressed gratitude for the opportunity to chair the Budget and Appropriations Committee.

He also mentioned that the opportunity allowed him to learn a lot of things.

He insisted that he had no regrets about being removed from the post, citing the loss as part of the mixed sensations of being human.

“Very rarely will I have regrets, what I have are lessons to do this better, not only about doing better but also to treat people better,” the Kiharu lawmaker reiterated.

Ndindi Nyoro’s comments come just a week after Sam Atandi, MP for Alego Usonga, took over as Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee.

Atandi was the only contender to submit his animation papers to the parliamentary committee before the deadline, making him the clear winner.

Moments after landing the vital task, Atandi acknowledged the importance of the position and thanked his colleagues for putting their trust in him.
