Gold Scam Case Haunts Amadi At The IEBC Chair Selection Interview
Anne Amadi, candidate for chairwoman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has cleared her name of allegations of involvement in a gold controversy.
In the complaint, Bruton Gold Trading LLC says that the defendants, acting on behalf of the law firm Amadi and Associates Advocates, wrongfully received over Ksh.89 million in gold that they never gave.
During her vetting by the IEBC selection panel on Monday, the former Chief Registrar of the Judiciary stated that she left the sued law firm, Amadi and Associates Advocates, in 2014 and has no involvement in the controversy.
“I was very busy in the Judiciary there was no time to go and get into any kind of practice,” Amadi told the selection panel.
Amadi went on to say that the Kenyan courts ruled that she was involved in the incident but was innocent.
She insisted that those accusing her were making up tales to harm her reputation and integrity.

“It was a malicious attack which is something that when you are in public service you must be ready for. Public Service at any level is not for the faint-hearted,” she said.
“It was an attempt to shake me and slain my reputation because I have upheld my integrity. I do not have skills in gold trading.”
Amadi has been an advocate for 34 years, 20 of which were spent in public service.
She has stated that she is aware of the strain on Kenyan elections and is prepared to deal with it.
