Kenyan International Journalist Collapses, Dies At Syokimau Home
Nick Mudimba, a CGTN Africa journalist, has died.
Mudimba, a former KTN journalist, collapsed and died at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County, on Sunday evening, March 23, 2025, according to his relatives and friends.
He was with his family when the incident occurred.
A family member stated that Mudimba was ill and was diagnosed with uric acid on Saturday.
He was given medication on Sunday, hours before his untimely death.
He was in a good mood and watched the football game between Harambee Stars and Gabon before taking his medication as prescribed.
Witnesses say he later slumped, convulsed, and died in the residence.

The body was transferred to a mortuary in Syokimau for an autopsy and other procedures.
His colleagues remembered him as a professional and passionate journalist whose work influenced and impacted many people.

He had worked at KTN and Switch TV before joining CGTN as a senior reporter based in Nairobi.
CGTN Africa journalist Nick Mudimba has passed away after collapsing at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County, on Sunday evening.

The journalist, who was with his family at the time, had reportedly been unwell and was receiving treatment.

CGTN Africa, the African division of China Global Television Network, the English-language news station operated by Chinese state broadcaster China Central Television, acknowledged the occurrence.
Several coworkers used social media to mourn the father of two. They described him as a competent and helpful journalist.
An autopsy is planned on the body to explain the cause of the death.
