PS Calls On Ruto To Fulfill Promises Made To Mt Kenya Residents
Mary Muthoni, the Public Health Principal Secretary, has encouraged President William Ruto to fulfill the projects he promised Embu County.
Speaking in Embu on Sunday, March 30, the PS stated that the citizens of Embu, who heckled the president during his earlier visit to the county last year, should allow the president to complete what he had begun or promised them.
“We allow him to come to Embu County to complete the projects that he has already initiated and the ones he had promised the people, and that is the only thing we ask,” she stated.
The PS described the president’s planned visit to the region as a “blessing,” stressing that it was unfortunate that the citizens of Embu County had given the president a hard welcome months before.
“A visitor is like a river; he comes and goes, so why should we bother him? The citizens of Kenya want the delivery of services and not politics, so when the president comes to Embu, it is a blessing to us all,” she stated.

On Tuesday, April 1, President Ruto is due to begin his week-long Mount Kenya excursion, which has been planned for nearly six months.
During his tour, the president is scheduled to visit nine counties in the region: Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Kiambu.
Ruto is required to oversee, commission, and implement a variety of development projects, including road infrastructure, affordable housing, markets, electrical connectivity, and water projects, among others.
However, in recent weeks, Ruto’s scheduled tour of the Mt Kenya region has piqued the interest of political observers who are assessing how he will be treated in the region.
The dispute has sparked mostly because it will be Ruto’s first visit to the region since his former Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, was impeached in October of last year.

Commenting on Ruto’s planned travel, Gachagua, who has since been impeached, has attempted to acquire control of the region’s political machinery.
The former DP warned citizens of the region not to believe the president’s claims during his visit.
According to Gachagaua, high government officials have devised a scheme to bribe citizens to support the president.
“Even now, he is preparing to visit this region with sacks of money. He is coming to lie, but I want to tell you to prepare and receive the money but do not take it home,” Gachagua stated.
