Kimani Ichung’wah Heckled, Jeered As Ruto Watches Helplessly
Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah received a nasty response after being heckled by an angry mob in the presence of President William Ruto on Thursday, April 3.
Ichung’wah was among the guests that joined the president at the unveiling of the Last Mile Connectivity in Ol Kalou Town, as Ruto continues to inaugurate state initiatives in Mt Kenya.
Residents of Nyandarua were fairly receptive to the president’s address.
However, everything changed when the microphone was passed to the Kikuyu Member of Parliament.
In videos published online, the disgruntled crowd can be seen openly criticizing Ichung’wah’s presentation with jeers and whistles, briefly delaying the lawmaker’s speech.
“Let me tell you. No one can shout me down. I cannot be intimidated,” Ichung’wah can be heard saying after the first round of heckling.

Despite the commotion, Ichung’wah attempted to withstand the storm with a welcome, which was received with even louder jeers.
“Mr President, the people of Kware know affordable housing is here, and all the work (placing cabro in affordable housing units) here should be given to the youth,” Ichung’wah added in an apparent attempt to appease the crowd, who shouted down his address in protest.
Ichung’wah, appearing overwhelmed by the massive crowd’s jeers, gave in and returned the microphone, but not without a final shot.

Before turning over the microphone, Ichung’wah issued a caution to the audience.
“I want to tell you, President Ruto, that here in Ol Kalou and the whole of Nyandarua, no one can intimidate me,” Ichung’wah stated.
The Majority Leader was not the only one who had to face a hostile crowd on the Nyandarua visit; the county’s Woman Representative, Gitau Faith Wairimu, was also heckled during her speech.
Meanwhile, the president announced various projects in Nyandarua, including the development of eight markets, which he said will offer farmers a stable and reliable place to sell their produce.
