MT KENYA TOUR: Strong Gachagua Ally Joins Ruto’s Camp In An Unprecedented Move
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been dealt a blow after one of his most ardent supporters pledged allegiance to President William Ruto.
On Thursday, April 3, Maragua Constituency Member of Parliament Mary Wamaua changed the political landscape in Central Kenya once more by officially endorsing the President.
Wamaua claimed she made a mistake by supporting Gachagua.
While speaking during the Head of State’s tour in Nyandarua, the MP stated that she had been in talks with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki since November 2024.
“Professor Kithure Kindiki is my good friend. I know (Mr President) you have been watching me, and I have been in talks with Kindiki since November,” the MP said amid cheers from the crowd.
She added, “Let me tell you, Mr. President, you are my good friend, and I want to say that besides some few mistakes, slipping is not falling.”
The latest development is sure to throw a wrench in the works, particularly as Wamaua was one of the most outspoken supporters of the former DP.
Following the impeachment motion against Gachagua, Wamaua criticized MPs for the move, calling it ‘unfortunate.’

“If the Deputy President is being hanged through the impeachment motion for advocating for the unity of the mountain, one day, history will fight for itself. We know they fear when the mountain is united,” she said in October 2024.

Following Gachagua’s impeachment, Wamaua maintained a cordial connection with the former DP, and the two recently attended a church service at Almighty God Ministries in Mathioya, Murang’a County.
Weeks later, Wamaua appears to have altered her tune following the President’s Central Kenya tour, which included development visits to Ol Kalou, Kinangop, Kangema, and her constituency Maragua.
During Ruto’s Maragua tour, she added: “The President asked me a question, and because the people who employed me have spoken, whoever you call your president, I also call my president.”
“So Mr President I am your servant and I hope you utilise my services to take Maragua and Murang’a County forward.”
