MP Wamuchomba Summoned By DCI Over ‘Ruto Must Go’ Video

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has been summoned to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices on Kiambu Road on Saturday, April 5.

This comes just hours after a viral video showed her marching with a mob yelling “Ruto Must Go” in Githunguri on Friday evening, April 4.

The event happened just as President William Ruto was about to visit Githunguri in Kiambu for his Mt. Kenya development tour on April 5.

While the reason for the summons has not been formally released, the direction to appear before the DCI appears to be related to her alleged participation in rallying the crowd.

Wamuchomba verified this in a statement on X, claiming that she had gotten a call from the County Criminal Investigation Officer.

“The CCIO Kiambu has, through a telephone call, summoned me because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured by fake promises and projects that never materialized,” she stated.

“Arrest can be done, but it will not change the facts,” her further statement read.

On Sunday, March 30, Irungu Nyakera said that he will be skipping President William Ruto’s highly anticipated Mount Kenya excursion.

Wamuchomba, a staunch supporter of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, was among those who voiced requests ahead of the President’s visit to the mountain.

In an open letter to the President on March 30, Wamuchomba requested him to repeal the newly gazetted coffee tariffs, which, she highlighted, disproportionately impacted farmers in the central area.

“Dear Mr. President, as you prepare to visit the Central region, please note that we are uncomfortable with your latest proposed and gazetted levies on the coffee value chain,” Wamuchomba noted.

“Your CS in charge of Treasury and Economic Planning gazetted a regulation introducing new levies on coffee sales without farmers’ consultations and clearance by the National Assembly. This was on February 7, 2025.”
