MP Wamuchomba Outlines 12-Point Agenda If Elected President

Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has articulated how she will use available resources and labor to alter Kenya’s economy if elected president.

Wamuchomba announced in a statement on Sunday, April 20, that she intends to build and support cottage companies in order to achieve her aim.

“One day, I will lead this country. I will turn around available labour to riches. I will create cottage industries and subsidise power,” Wamuchomba stated.

A cottage industry is a small manufacturing enterprise owned and maintained by a person or family, usually from home rather than a purpose-built facility.

At the top of her agenda was ensuring that all houses with backyards generated goods for domestic consumption. These include toothpicks, spoons, pans, towels, belts, and so on.

Second, she would introduce cottage special zones with unique electricity and water prices, and third, she would create a national conference for the industry.

A national award system for the finest inventors in the business would then be formed.

Wamuchomba stated that she will establish a cottage fund for incubation in each county to help the business.

To offer space for the sale of these products, the MP indicated that she would use idle stadiums between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. daily, complete with a special cleaning crew.

She also stated that she will provide extension officers to assess cottage progress and offer technical guidance.

She also promised to renovate the Kenya Industrial Estate and support it so that the cottage products could be marketed abroad.

“When I’m president, we will NOT export raw macadamia, coffee and tea but rather will process locally and sell final goods,” Wamuchomba added.

Wamuchomba stated that she would reform the Agricultural Mechanisation Unit to promote value addition.

The MP vowed that all women will have access to local hair wigs manufactured from banana fibers, as well as biodegradable sanitary towels.

“Who will make me a president? I have no money to campaign,” Wamuchomba mused.
