Hussein Khalid, a human rights campaigner and CEO of VOCAL Africa, has stated that their offices in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, had been broken into.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 22, he stated that the event resulted in the theft of sensitive data and devices worth hundreds of thousands.

“We wish to inform members of the public that our offices, situated in Kileleshwa, Tabere Crescent, Nairobi, were broken into, and sensitive documents and gadgets were taken away,” he said.

“Our main laptop is missing, as well as other communication gadgets, including the camera.”

Hussein stated that the organization is still unaware of the purpose of the workplace break-in.

He stated that the incident was reported to Kileleshwa Police Station and that officers had already visited the spot.

“As an organisation, we are shocked by this attack and have reported the matter to Kileleshwa Police Station,” he added.

“We are uncertain of the motive behind the break-in, but we can confirm that gadgets worth hundreds of thousands were taken. Police have visited our office and recorded their findings.”

He asked the public to remain vigilant and the authorities to act fast to apprehend those responsible for the event.

These crimes occurred after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) captured an infamous robbery with a violent gang on April 11, which was linked to a number of occurrences in Narok.

The group broke into a rental building, robbing occupants and injured a Maasai Mara University student before fleeing.

However, a pursuit by the officers resulted in the arrest of the three, and the authorities recovered the stolen things.

“Police officers from Narok Police Station have netted three suspects linked to a string of robbery with violence incidents in Narok town and its neighbouring areas,” they reported.

“The arrest follows a distress call about an ongoing robbery at Total Village,” they added.

“Responding swiftly, the officers established that a three-man gang had stormed a rental building, robbed tenants of their cherished possessions, including mobile phones, laptops, and gas cylinders.”
