SHOCKING! KNH Footage Reveals Deplorable Conditions Of The Hospital
Kenyatta National Hospital, Kenya’s largest referral hospital, is falling into dirt, decrepit walls, and flooded washrooms, causing patients to worry.
A terrifying video posted by a hospital patient has prompted an online debate about the hospital’s sanitation and the worsening condition of Kenya’s largest referral hospital.
Patients who visit the hospital for medical attention have expressed concern that instead of being healed, they will contract more infections from the institution owing to poor cleanliness.
The recording shows flooded washroom floors, disintegrating walls, and inadequate sanitary facilities, raising serious concerns about accountability in public healthcare.

The video, shot at the Maternity Unit designed to care for mothers and their newborns, highlights the dangers that pregnant women face, such as blocked toilets, flooded bathroom floors, and a lack of sanitary bins.
New moms and those anticipating delivery are forced to wade through filthy, stagnant water from clogged toilets in unsanitary settings simply to get to the same faulty toilets.
The same women return to care for their newborn kids, whose immunity is quite poor, posing a risk not only to the mothers but also to the babies.
The toilets also lack sanitary bins, forcing patients to throw away old sanitary towels in a crevice behind the wall.

There are also no support bars to help pregnant women and new moms, despite the clear danger of slipping on the damp floors.

Interestingly, the hospital has a Repair and Maintenance budget of Ksh447 million as of 2023, prompting concerns about why the hospital appears abandoned despite the given cash.
Kenyans have reacted strongly to the footage, with many expressing dissatisfaction with the hospital’s deteriorating conditions.
Kenyans are calling on the Ministry of Health, led by Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, to act quickly and restore the hospital’s glory.
The hospital’s CEO, Evans Kamuri, has also been put on the spot, with a section of Kenyans demanding action from him.
