‘We’re Done With You!’ – UDA Party Has Expelled Orwoba Over Matiang’i Fiasco
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has hinted at severing relations with Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba following allegations that she is no longer loyal to the party and its leadership.
UDA Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi Orwoba’s tenure with the ruling party is coming to an end, according to a strong statement issued on Saturday.
“We are done with you. You are no longer a party member. You can’t bite the hands that feed you.”
His comments came after Senator Orwoba emailed him and UDA Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro a cryptic note that read:
“Good morning Sylvanus Osoro and Japheth Nyakundi… Gusii Community is watching you. Happy Sabbath.”

The statement appeared to challenge the two Kisii chiefs as tensions rose over Orwoba’s apparent political alliance with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
Nyakundi, while responding to the senator’s remarks, added: “The only price you pay in politics is loyalty to the party and the party leader. You have disregarded all that. We wish you all the best with your new party leader.”
The party has already issued a disciplinary summons to Orwoba for her public affiliation with persons perceived to be adverse to UDA leadership.
In a statement issued Friday and signed by the committee’s chairperson, Charles Njenga, the party claimed three incidents of “misconduct” by the senator.
The most notable of these was Orwoba’s attendance at the welcoming ceremony for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Her ecstatic attendance at his homecoming ceremony at Gusii Stadium was also notable.

The nominated senator openly questioned the government’s workforce mobility scheme, which is a crucial component of President William Ruto’s administration.
“Your participation and utterances in the above-stated events clearly demonstrate instances and proof of allegiance to another political movement, conduct unbecoming and disloyalty to the United Democratic Alliance Party (hereafter the party) and which nominated you to the office and position of Senator in the Senate of the Republic of Kenya,” read the statement in part.
The disciplinary committee has summoned Orwoba to appear before it on Friday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m., at the Hustler Plaza Fourth Floor Board Room.
