MP Salasya Allegedly Arrested After His Car Was Shot At

Peter Salasya, a Mumias East Member of Parliament, has allegedly been arrested.

According to the MP, he was ambushed by persons he alleges were Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) personnel on the Isiolo-Nanyuki route after addressing a rally in Isiolo.

Salasya described the ambush, stating that the officers opened fire on his convoy, adding that they were masked guys armed with AK-47 rifles.

Salasya said that the supposed police disarmed his bodyguards and confiscated their firearms, despite his initial escape attempt.

“I have just been attacked by unknown individuals claiming to be DCI officers,” he stated.

“These people, heavily armed and moving with force, ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security team, confiscated their firearms, and pursued my vehicle,” he added.

“One of my security personnel managed to escape and helped me flee into a nearby bush for safety.”

Salasya was unable to disclose specifics about the grounds for his arrest, although he appeared to have been threatened by the individuals.

“They shot at my vehicle, aiming directly at me. Shortly after, they emerged with at least 15 AK47 rifles and confronted me with a chilling message – one I cannot disclose at this time for security reasons,” Salasya stated.

Salasya, who recently announced his presidential candidacy for 2027, insisted that he had not targeted the administration in his ongoing nationwide campaign, calling the reason for the attack into question.

While announcing his presidential candidacy, the young politician noted that the choice was made after extensive public deliberation and discussion.

“Fellow Kenyans, after deep reflection, wide consultations, and careful consideration of the state of our nation, I, Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency, hereby declare my intention to vie for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 General Election,” he declared.

According to the MP, he was motivated to run for the seat by a “profound desire to offer bold, transformative leadership that will reposition our great nation for industrial growth, economic empowerment, and social justice.”
