The High Court in Nanyuki has sentenced a woman to 40 years in prison for murdering her ex-lover, bringing a conclusion to a seven-year legal battle.

According to a statement issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Friday, June 6, the court found the lady guilty of an offense committed on December 4, 2018.

According to the chief prosecutor, on the night of the occurrence, the accused, along with two accomplices, unlawfully entered the deceased’s apartment and murdered him.

The deceased, a former lover and businessman in Nanyuki, was also stolen from personal belongings, home stuff, and his vehicle.

During the sentencing hearing, the prosecution, led by Ms Esther Kimani, presented various aggravating elements.

It was discovered that the accused was already serving three terms for separate robberies and had two more ongoing robbery cases pending in court.

The prosecution further claimed that the other crimes were done while the accused was out on bond in the current murder case, resulting in the revocation of her bond.

They were located with the victim’s stolen car and electrical devices.
