This case came just two days after another suspect died in an apparent suicide at the Ukwala police station in Siaya county on June 12.
The 26-year-old’s body was discovered hanging from a metal rod in the cells’ toilet, according to authorities.
He was arrested when a local court issued a warrant.
The culprit was charged with defilement. According to police, he hanged himself in a lavatory in the cells with his shirt.
According to officials at the Ukwala officials Station, the suspect was discovered hanging from a metal water pipe with his shirt around his neck.
These subsequent examples of purported suicide in police stations follow the case of Albert Ojwang, a teacher and social media influencer who authorities first said died by suicide inside the Central Police Station.

Police stated that Ojwang inflicted his injuries on himself by repeatedly pounding the wall.
However, preliminary investigations by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and a government pathologist have challenged this assertion.
Ojwang died of head injuries, neck compression, and various bruises, indicating blunt force trauma and strangling.
These cases continue to raise concerns about the safety of Kenyans in police custody, which was supposed to be the safest place but has turned out to be one of the most dangerous.
