Margaret Kenyatta Sends Strong Message To Gen Z, Encourages New Ideas
Kenyan youth, particularly Generation Z, were challenged on Friday, June 13, to use their abilities to create a better society and challenge the existing quo.
Margaret Kenyatta, the former First Lady, challenged young people to be “architects of global change” and praised the current “bold” generation.
She was addressing 170 graduating students during Brookhouse School’s 17th graduation ceremony.
She also praised Gen Zs for their boldness in opposing the current quo, stressing that it was vital to achieving global progress and tackling injustices.

“You have learned to leverage your talents, not just for personal success, but to build a better world by contributing your gifts and brilliant minds to the world,” Margaret stated.
“I see a bold generation rising, one ready to question the status quo, reimagine the future, and confront injustices,” she said.
Margaret emphasized that the genius of the youth must drive innovation, experiment with new ideas, and create a new world free of the chaos that surrounds it.
“Go forth and shine. Wherever life takes you, let your light transform the world,” she asserted.
Her remark comes after former President Uhuru Kenyatta challenged Generation Z to continue fighting for their rights in the midst of severe governance difficulties during his successor, William Ruto’s, tenure.

Uhuru, who has mainly avoided speaking on politics since leaving office in 2022, urged the youth to continue fighting for their rights.
“The problem with people nowadays is that they are afraid. Gen Zs are the story of the future. Fight for your rights. Fight to ensure you are getting what is rightfully yours,” he urged.
He went on to add, “Don’t stand and watch as your wealth is taken from you. Everything is worth fighting for. If you do not fight for it, don’t cry if it is taken away.”
Uhuru was asking with young people, including his daughter Ngina Kenyatta, to join the struggle, claiming it was time for him and his contemporaries to rest and hand over the fight.
